“Who would have guessed that God would one day use in the interests of religion the studies in design that I undertook for early life business reasons? And, in fact, these skills have been most useful to me in designing prints for catechism and works in mysticism” (Aut 56).

EVERYTHING FOR THE EVANGELIZATION

Not always do we discover, not at all at the first sight or immediately the sense, the meaning, the relevance, the value… of one thing we study, learn or we may have perhaps to do out of necessity, obligation or compromise… We ask even with right the why or for what, but not always we are given to know the answer. Mysteries of life! We had better to study and learn some things which, in a certain moment, were not telling anything to us or which hardly conveyed to us something very important, and the meaning and value of which only with the course of time we have discovered. And perhaps with the passage of time we had to get helped by those lessons, knowledge… which in that moment seemed to us irrelevant, without importance, something like a loss of time and energies when we wanted to occupy ourselves with other things…

Are we not used to say that ‘to know does not occupy space’? There is a moment for everything and a time for everything. Many centuries ago one sage said this. There is a time to learn and a time to unlearn the learnt. And what is not given to us to know and appreciated today, perhaps will be granted to us tomorrow, in another moment, in other circumstances. No, you don’t know what you need tomorrow or what will deem you to know, dominate, to be aware of, to hold and to have…

Everything gets fixed, little by little in an unknown and imperceptible way this providential hand of God so that everything may have sense and value in its moment although nothing of this is given to us to know at the first sight or in an immediate way. And perhaps only towards the end of life, in the last stages of our life history, when the existence touches its end and come the moment of recapitulation, all will get its true dimension, its real proportion, its authentic importance, also its meaning, sense, richness and value.

As for today, what do you value as relevant and meaningful of what you have received many years ago since it has helped you or served you in the development of your life?
