Studia Claretiana 2020
Volume XXXV of “Studia Claretiana – 2020” has just come out. It offers the main events and contributions of 2020 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of Saint Anthony Maria Claret, of the arrival of the Missionaries to America – specifically to Chile – and the foundation in Algiers. Not everything that was done and said is here, but the most significant is. Other references can be found in “Annales Congregationis” and in other publications. We have divided the volume in a different way from the way used in previous years. The division is marked according to the various thematic blocks or moments of celebration.
The first block is that of the three main presentations that took place in Santiago de Chile from January 20 to 25, 2020, during the Claretian Spirituality Congress: “Sent to evangelize the young vineyard”, to commemorate 150 years of the arrival of the first Claretians to America and the opening of the year of celebration of the 150 years of the death of Claret.
The second celebration was that of the Spiritual Exercises, from July 13 to 17, 2020. They were scheduled to be held in Vic (Spain), but the fact of the pandemic forced it to be done online.
The third event was the “Triduum of prayer preparatory to the Feast of Saint Anthony Mary Claret on the 150th anniversary of his death. 1870-2020 “; October 21-23.
In the “Notes” section of this volume, we offer three collaborations: “Los sepulcros de San Antonio María Claret”, by CESC; the text of the chronicle of the community of Vic, September-October 1970, pp. 38-54, because we are also celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the inauguration of the Temple-Sepulchre dedicated to Fr. Claret (1970-2020). And given that this is also the 150th anniversary of the foundation in North Africa, we offer an interesting study by Fr. Ezequiel Fernández: “Argel, una posibilidad misionera ”.
In the “Congregation” section, you will find the extensive and rich Circular Letter of Fr. General, precisely on the occasion of the 150 years since the death of Fr. Claret: “Caritas Christ urget nos. Fidelity to the charism of our Founder today”.
As every year, the volume closes with the “Claretian Bibliography”, with the titles of the publications which the bulletin “Annales Congregationis” has been given notice of along the year 2020.
As in previous years, the reader can find the full text of the volume and the indexes in the corresponding section of this website.
